Rivane Neuenschwander é uma artista que, desde os anos 1990, escolheu como material de sua produção elementos residuais do consumo, das trocas sociais, das lembranças. Os seus trabalhos envolvem mais de um sentido. Além do visível, Rivane faz uso de qualidades olfativas, e emprega também materiais comestíveis para compor uma atmosfera sinestésica emblemática. Em suas instalações, que vão do minucioso ao desenho ampliado de espaços inteiros, Neuenschwander traduz o caráter intercomunicante dos sistemas vivos. Acoplando a ação e a presença de corpos humanos e inumanos que participam da elaboração estética a substratos teóricos, a obra de Rivane inclui os grupos que levaram, direta ou indiretamente, à forma que os trabalhos adquirem. O outro é sempre pressuposto na estrutura e na execução dos trabalhos, e o cuidado com a forma implica sempre o cuidado com o público: seus modos de circular, habitar, atravessar.

Rivane Neuenschwander is an artist who, since the 1990s, has chosen residual elements from consumption, social exchanges, and memories as material for her production. Her works involve more than one sense. Besides the visible content, Rivane makes use of olfactory aspects, and uses edible materials to compose an emblematic synesthetic atmosphere. In her installations, which range from the details to the wide design of entire spaces, Neuenschwander translates the intercommunicating character of living systems. Coupling the action and presence of human and non-human bodies that take part from the aesthetic elaboration to the theoretical substrates, Rivane's work includes the groups that led, directly or indirectly, to the form that these works acquire. The other is always presupposed in the structure and execution of the works, and care with form always implies care with the public: their ways of circulating, inhabiting, crossing.
